Giuseppe Mani (born June 21, 1936 in Rufina , Province of Florence , Italy ) is retired Archbishop of Cagliari .

Life

Giuseppe Mani was ordained a priest on March 12, 1960 and was incardinated in the clergy of the diocese of Fiesole .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Zaba and auxiliary bishop in Rome on October 29, 1987 . The episcopal ordination received his Cardinal Vicar Ugo Poletti of the same year on December 7 in the Cathedral of Fiesole ; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops Ennio Appignanesi and Plinio Pascoli .

On January 31, 1996 he was appointed military archbishop of Italy and titular archbishop pro hac vice of Zaba . He resigned from his office as Titular Archbishop of Zaba on March 7, 1998. He was appointed Archbishop of Cagliari on June 20, 2003, and was introduced to the office on September 6 of the same year.

Giuseppe Mani has been Grand Prior of the Lieutenancy of Sardinia of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem since 2010 .

On February 25, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.
