Gaetano Bonicelli (born December 13, 1924 in Vilminore di Scalve , Bergamo province , Italy ) is retired Archbishop of Siena-Colle di Val d'Elsa-Montalcino .

Life

Gaetano Bonicelli was ordained a priest on May 22, 1948 and was incardinated in the clergy of the Bergamo diocese . After missionary activities in Belgium , he became director of the Italian emigration and tourism plant in 1965. 1973 Bonicelli rose to the position of deputy secretary of the Italian Bishops' Conference .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on July 10, 1975 titular bishop of Musti and auxiliary bishop in Albano . The Archbishop of Bologna , Antonio Cardinal Poma , ordained him episcopal on August 26th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Clemente Gaddi , Bishop of Bergamo with the personal title of Archbishop , and Enrico Bartoletti , Archbishop of Lucca . On June 11, 1977 he was appointed Bishop of Albano .

On October 28, 1981, Pope John Paul II appointed him Titular Archbishop of Italica and Archbishop of the Italian Military Ordinary and on November 14, 1989, Archbishop of Siena-Colle di Val d'Elsa-Montalcino, with this episcopate he was President of the International Association of the Katharinaten . On May 23, 2001, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. Gaetano Bonicelli has lived in a pilgrims' house in Stezzano near Bergamo ever since .
