Antonio Buoncristiani (born December 20, 1943 in Cerreto di Spoleto ) is an Italian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Siena-Colle di Val d'Elsa-Montalcino .

Life

Antonio Buoncristiani was ordained a priest on July 13, 1968 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Porto-Santa Rufina on July 21, 1994 . The cardinal secretary emeritus and cardinal prefect of the property administration of the Apostolic See , Agostino Casaroli , donated him the episcopal ordination on October 1st of the same year ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Jean-Louis Pierre Tauran , Secretary of the Section for Relations with the States of the State Secretariat , and Giovanni Benedetti , Bishop of Foligno . As a motto he chose Fides per caritatem .

On May 23, 2001 he was appointed Archbishop of Siena-Colle di Val d'Elsa-Montalcino and on June 24 of the same year he was appointed to the office. Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on May 6, 2019.

During his tenure as Archbishop of Siena, Buoncristiani was, in accordance with the statutes, president of the International Association of Catharines .
