Order of the Golden Deer
The Order of the Golden Stag , also known as the Hunting Order , was an order foundation of the Silesian Piasts , a ruling dynasty in today's Poland .
history
The one-class order was founded on August 23, 1672 on the occasion of his assumption of the throne by the then twelve-year-old Duke of Liegnitz , Brieg and Wohlau , Georg Wilhelm (* 1660; † 1675), the last prince of the Piast dynasty. After his premature death as a result of a hunt, his lands were confiscated as a settled fiefdom from the Bohemian crown and the order was extinguished.
Insignia
The sign of the order was a golden oak leaf on which a jumping golden stag hung on two chains. In the lapel, the order showed a red enameled heart, which was covered with a white enameled cross. The medal was worn on a green ribbon interwoven with gold.
