Order of St. George of Reunification

The Order of St. George of Reunification was founded on February 24, 1808 by Joseph Bonaparte , King of Naples, as a knightly and merit order, initially in three classes

The order was changed by its successors Joachim Murat and Ferdinand I. The latter founded three further classes, which were composed as follows:

  • Grand Cross (Gran Bandicati)
  • Commander (commendatori)
  • Right Knight (Cavalieri di diritto)
  • Knight of Mercy (Cavalieri di grazia)
  • gold medal
  • Silver medal

Order decoration

The order decoration is a dissolute red enamelled cross, which lies on a green enamelled laurel wreath and is crossed by two golden swords. The medallion shows the image of St. George and is surrounded by a gold-rimmed blue ring. The motto of the order In hoc signo vinces can be read in gold letters . In the class for knights of mercy, the cross was not underlaid with a laurel wreath.

The ribbon is sky blue with pouncer red stripes.
