Orfeo Crosa

Orfeo Crosa Nogara (* in the 20th century) is a Uruguayan botanist . Its botanical-mycological author's abbreviation is " Crosa ".

Crosa researches and teaches as a professor in the Departamento de Biología Vegetal at the Agricultural Faculty of the Universidad de la República . The species Herbertia crosae from the iris family, discovered in northwest Uruguay, bears his name.

Taxonomically he has dealt with the leek family (Allioideae), a subfamily of the Amaryllidaceae : in 1975 he described the new genus Zoellnerallium (at that time only with one species , Zoellnerallium andinum ), and in 2004 he described two new species of the genus Nothoscordum , Nothoscordum izaguirreae and Nothoscordum marchesii .
