She is the last remaining three manual Voit organ with mechanical play and key action from the time of high romance. The instrument has 41 registers , divided into three manuals and pedal .

Building history

New building by Voit in 1868

The organ was built in 1868 by the Durlach organ manufacturer Louis Voit & Sons for the St. Gallus Church in Ladenburg. Over time the instrument has seen many changes; around 30% of the pipework, the mechanics including the console and the neo-Gothic carving were lost. However, essential parts of the organ remained original (all wind chests, the case with the exception of the neo-Gothic carvings, around 70% of the pipework, parts of the warehouse and the wind turbine). After the organ was removed from the Ladenburg Church, these parts were stored in the Rastatt depot of the State Office for Monument Protection.

Implementation and restoration 2002–2005

The Protestant parish of Marbach took over the organ and commissioned the organ building company Freiburger Orgelbau Hartwig Späth with the restoration and partial reconstruction of the Voit organ. In the years 2002 to 2005 the instrument was restored and missing parts were reconstructed according to the old model (Voit organ in Weidenthal / Pfalz, etc.). The restoration was carried out by the Freiburger Orgelbau Hartwig and Tilmann Späth workshop (restoration: Claus-Uwe Lindl, intonation: Reiner Janke , restoration and addition of the colored covering of the case: Herbert Eninger, Unterwaldhausen).

The work was financially supported by the state of Baden-Württemberg and the Baden-Württemberg Monument Foundation.
