Organ and Sax is a duo for newer church music , consisting of organ and saxophone . It was founded in 2002 by Uli Kammerer (born February 16, 1965 in Weinheim ) and Wolfgang Schröter (born February 24, 1953 in Heidelberg ) in Weinheim.

history

Kammerer (saxophone) and Schröter ( church organ ) received classical music training on their instruments. As members of jazz bands, they gained experience in improvisation, which they passed on in school orchestras and specially founded student jazz bands. They began their musical collaboration in 2001 as a teacher at the Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium Weinheim .

style

The duo works on chorales , Taizé songs, medieval tunes and Bach fugues, which they combine with their own compositions.

In 2019 the variant organ and sax stage was developed with the inclusion of synthesizers . Performances outside of church rooms are also possible. In addition, tracks from the jazz, blues and psychedelic areas have been added to the program.
