Organs of the Pelplin Cathedral

The organs of the cathedral in Pelplin are among the most important in northern Poland . The large organ was built by Carl August Buchholz in 1844/1845 and today has 72 stops . The choir organ behind a prospect from 1679 was reconstructed in 2003 by Zdzisław Mollin based on the historical model and has 45 stops.

history

The main organ was built by Carl August Buchholz from Berlin from 1844 to 1845 and was one of his largest structures. The prospectus was created by the sculptor Wallbaum from Danzig - Neufahrwasser . The organ had 55 registers on three manuals .

In 1908 Bruno Goebel from Königsberg expanded the instrument. In 1998 Marek Cepka carried out further modifications.

Disposition

The organ today has 72 registers on three manuals and a pedal.

The choir organ was built by Johann Georg Wolff from 1677 to 1679 . It had three manuals and about 45 stops.

In 2003 Zdzisław Mollin reconstructed the organ based on the historical model with 42 stops on three manuals and a pedal behind the preserved prospectus.
