Orianna Webb
Orianna Webb (* in Akron / Ohio ) is an American composer, music teacher and pianist.
Webb played the piano and bassoon in her youth. She was a member of the school orchestra, played chamber music and composed for a rock group. She studied piano with Nicolas Constantinidis and Ethel Burke , bassoon with Georgia Peeples and composition with Martin Bresnick , Margaret at the University of Chicago (until 1997), the Cleveland Institute of Music (until 2001) and the Yale School of Music (until 2003) Brouwer , John Eaton , Joseph Schwantner and Roger Zahab . At the Schola Cantorum in Paris she studied composition with Samuel Adler and Philip Lasser . She taught u. a. Composition, orchestration, music theory and history at Yale School of Music and Yale College , Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) and Case Western Reserve University . At CIM, she was one of the founders of the Young Composers Program .
Webb's compositions were a. a. performed by the Minnesota Orchestra , the Yale Philharmonia , the Bowling Green Philharmonia , the Ensemble Flexible Music , the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra , the Prism Players , and the Mostly Modern Chamber Music Society . She has received awards and commissions from the American Academy of Arts and Letters , the Fromm Foundation , ASCAP , the American Music Center , the International Alliance for Women in Music , the New York Youth Symphony, and others.
