Maximiliaan Ruiter
Maximiliaan Ruiter (born January 22, 1900 in Nijmegen , † June 2, 1974 in Norg , province of Drenthe ), incorrectly written Maximilian in some publications , was a Dutch dermatologist and university professor.
life and work
On December 17, 1932 Ruiter was at the University of Groningen on the subject of Chronic pyodermiëen (dt. Chronic pyoderma ) PhD . From February 1, 1947 until his retirement in 1969, Ruiter was Professor of Dermatology at the University of Groningen.
In 1947, Ruiter and his colleagues AW Pompen and HJ Wyers discovered abnormal vacuoles in the blood vessels during an autopsy of two patients with Fabry disease . They were the first to express the suspicion - later confirmed - that Fabry's disease is a systematized storage disease. In some works, Fabry's disease is therefore also referred to as Ruiter-Pompen-Weyers syndrome .
Superficial vasculitis ( vasculitis superficialis ) is also called Ruiter's disease in honor of Maximiliaan Ruiter .
