Orkla Media AS is a media company and newspaper publisher based in Oslo , Norway . Until 2005 the company was part of the Norwegian Orkla group, in 2006 it was bought and split up by the Mecom Group .

history

The investment company Mecom Group of the British media entrepreneur David Montgomery bought the company in 2006 for 970 million euros. After the acquisition, the company was gradually split into three holdings: Edda Media ( Norway ), Det Berlingske Officin ( Denmark , today Berlingske Media ) and Rzeczpospolita ( Poland ).

In June 2005 Orkla Media took over the network in Germany , in December 2005 the news portal Golem.de and in July 2006 the medical portal Netdoktor.de . At the same time, Orkla Media founded its own marketing company for activities in Germany in 2005: Orkla Media Sales GmbH .

On June 8, 2007 Orkla Media sold the Netzeitung Group to BV Deutsche Zeitungsholding . With this purchase, BV Deutsche Zeitungsholding also took over Orkla Media Sales GmbH, the Netzeitung Group's online marketer. The marketing company merged with the newly founded Online Media Sales Group (OMSG). With the takeover of Netzeitung by BV Deutsche Zeitungsholding, the online titles Golem.de and Netdoktor.de were sold to the Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group .

Newspapers

Orkla Media is the fifth largest media group in the Baltic region with sales of around € 1 billion in the 2004 financial year. In Norway, Orkla Media is involved in 31 regional newspapers and several websites. In Denmark there are over 60 newspapers, including Berlingske Tidende . In the Polish newspaper market, the market share in daily newspaper business is over 20 percent. Other activities include local radio and TV stations, electronic media and direct marketing.
