Orocobre Limited is a mining company based in Brisbane, Australia. The main focus is on exploration in Argentina , where the company has projects in various provinces. Since 2007 Orocobre Ltd. listed as a public company on the Australian Stock Exchange .

Projects

Olaroz

The Salar Olaroz is a salt lake in the Jujuy Province in northwest Argentina, close to the border with Chile. Above all, deposits of lithium and potassium salt (potash) are to be developed. Drilling and pumping tests over large areas of the mining area have been completed. Currently (as of March 4, 2009) a definition of the resource according to the standards of the “Joint Ore Reserves Committee” (JORC) is being prepared. According to the company, previous measurements have shown an average lithium content of 700 ppm and a magnesium -to-lithium ratio of 2.8: 1. The potassium salt content is given as 1.3%.

Santo Domingo

The Santo Domingo project is located in the western Argentine province of San Juan , where copper , gold and silver are to be mined. In addition to the above-mentioned projects, Orocobre holds a number of other mining rights, but according to its own information, the company is concentrating on the lithium / potash project Olaroz in the medium term.

In February 2009, Orocobre Ltd. together with Argentinian partners the joint venture “South American Salars”. The aim is to further develop South American salt lakes.
