Orontes (Armenia)

Orontes was probably a descendant of Orontes III. (probably the great-grandson) and Hydarnes and around 200 BC Chr. The first detectable independent rulers in Eastern Armenia . Eastern Armenia was the nucleus of a Greater Armenian Empire. According to an inscription from Armavir , Orontes temporarily ruled together with his descendant (probably grandson) and later founder of the empire Artaxias I the satrapy of Eastern Armenia , which was still under Seleucid suzerainty.
