The Orpington is a great English Hühnerrasse , the end of the 19th century by the Englishman William Cook in Orpington in the county of Kent was bred.

Orpington are a heavy breed and are good sources of meat and eggs.

Because these chickens are heavy, they can barely flutter over four foot fences. They are richly feathered without being loose. Most chickens are single-combed , rose- combed only occurs in yellow and black hues.

When fully grown, the roosters weigh 4 to 4.5 kg, the hens 3 to 3.5 kg. Orpington are calm and quickly become trusting.

Colors are black, white, yellow, porcelain-colored, black-and-white checkered (black with white spots), blue-lined, striped, red, partridge-colored-banded, yellow-black-lined, birch-colored, with the dwarfs only black, white, yellow, blue and striped. Rose-combed: yellow and black

New ideas: color code and rose-combed black

They are calm and fast-growing chickens; the hens tend to become obese if they are overfeeding.
