Orthotylus virescens is a species of bug from the family of soft bugs (Miridae).
features
The bugs are 3.9 to 4.9 millimeters long. The species of the genus Orthotylus are predominantly green in color. Many are extremely similar and are therefore very difficult to determine based on external characteristics. The host plants of the respective individuals are therefore an important indicator. Orthotylus virescens has an upright, dark haired upper surface and a dark membrane of the hemielytras . Your rostrum is very short.
Occurrence and habitat
The species is distributed from the south of Scandinavia across western and central Europe to the southeast to Asia Minor and the Middle East. It was also introduced to Canada by humans. In Germany it is widespread and usually common, especially in the northwest. Art.
Way of life
Along with Orthotylus adenocarpi and Orthotylus concolor, the bug species is one of the three Central European species that occurs exclusively on broom broom ( Cytisus scoparius ). The adult bugs appear from the second half of July and can be found until the end of August / beginning of September.
