Orthotylus adenocarpi is a species of bug from the family of soft bugs (Miridae).
features
The bugs are 3.8 to 4.9 millimeters long. The species of the genus Orthotylus are predominantly green in color. Many are extremely similar and are therefore very difficult to determine based on external characteristics. The host plants of the respective individuals are therefore an important indicator. Orthotylus adenocarpi is more blue-green in color. The second antenna segment is long, longer than the third and fourth combined.
Occurrence and habitat
The species is distributed from the south of Scandinavia across western and central Europe to the western Mediterranean area. In Germany, it is predominantly in the west, especially in the northwest. There is only a little evidence from East Germany. It is not common.
Way of life
The bugs live exclusively on broom broom ( Sarothamnus scoparius ). They also suckle on aphids and leaf fleas . They are the earliest type of genus in the year on broomstick. The nymphs appear from mid-May, adult bugs from mid-June to mid-August at the latest.
