The Clube de Futebol "Os Balantas" , mostly just CF Os Balantas , is a sports club from the Guinea-Bissau city of Mansôa . He is particularly known for his soccer team .
history
The association was founded on September 18, 1946 in what was then the Portuguese colony of Portuguese Guinea as branch association No. 13 of the Portuguese Clube de Futebol Os Belenenses . The name variant was chosen with reference to the Balantas ethnic group predominating in Mansôa .
The club has won all championship titles since the national championship in Guinea-Bissau, which was first played in 1960. After Guinea-Bissau gained independence in 1974, the club was re-established and in 1975 won the first newly established national championship, Campeonato Nacional da Guiné-Bissau . After that, the club became champions three more times (as of 2017).
The club has not yet won the national cup Taça Nacional da Guiné-Bissau , but in 2006 and 2013 it won the country's Supercup , the Super Taça Nacional (as of 2017).
CF Os Balantas first took part in the African Cup of Champions Clubs in 1976 , the African cup competition for cup winners, but was eliminated in the first round against ASC Diaraf from Senegal. The club was also represented in the CAF Champions League 2007 and 2014 and both times did not get past the first round.
