Oscar Geier (composer)
Oscar Geier (born July 3, 1889 in Roßleben , † October 17, 1952 in Dresden ) was a German violist and composer .
Life
Oscar Geier worked as a violist in the Dresden State Orchestra from 1913 to 1952 after his musical training at the Conservatory in Sondershausen and the Dresden University of Music . In addition to his work as a musician, he mainly composed solo and chamber music. The Concerto for Double Bass in E major, Op. 11, is a well-known compulsory piece for double bass players in competitions or auditions .
