Oskar Auster

Oskar Ludwig Auster (born December 7, 1853 in Zittau ; † January 22, 1919 there ) was Zittau's head of department for urban construction and the royal building officer.

Life

From 1877 to 1882 Oskar Auster was a teacher at the building trade school in Holzminden, where he was entrusted as an engineer with the planning and execution of various high-rise, civil, bridge and road structures. From 1882 to 1887 he worked as an engineer for the municipal civil engineering office in Leipzig, and until 1894 as a city architect in Freiberg. In 1894 he came back to Zittau and was employed on May 1, 1894 as the fourth salaried technical council member.

Services

Due to his specialist knowledge, Oskar Auster showed great interest in matters of municipal construction. Under his leadership, very important building tasks were solved for the city of Zittau. One of the most important municipal construction projects under his direction was the regulation of the Mandau River . Other important construction companies under his significant participation were the construction and expansion of the municipal power station, the tram, the expansion of the gas works and the installation of the Oybin water pipeline. During the war years he made great contributions to the management of the war support system.
