Oskar Pirrss

Oskar Hugo Adolf Pirrss (* 1863 in Gnesen ; † after 1928) was a German educator and author . At the beginning of the 20th century he contributed to the learning of the Russian language in German schools with his pamphlets and lesson letters.

Live and act

Pirrss came from the Prussian province of Posen and started a teacher training after attending grammar school. During his studies in 1882 he became a member of the Germania Halle fraternity . In Berlin he became a senior teacher at the Kaiser Friedrich-Realgymnasium and Realschule in Rixdorf. He was appointed professor in 1907. On April 1, 1928, Oskar Pirrss retired and devoted himself to his passion for collecting. He left the Pirrss collection of documents with more than 4,350 individual pieces, which were scattered to the wind after his death.

Oskar Pirrss was best known for his publications Russische Sprachlehre and Russische Taschengrammatik , which appeared in several editions and were also translated into Russian.
