The Oslebshauser Park is located in Bremen in the Gröpelingen district, Oslebshausen district .

history

In 1931, Bremen acquired a heavily forested estate park with small ponds, Korff's Holz . According to plans by Horticultural Director Paul Freye , it was converted into a park and made accessible to the public in 1932. With its ponds, meadows and beech forests, it offers a piece of nature experience.

In the Oslebshauser Park, major renovation and expansion work was carried out in the 1990s and nature moved back into focus. The previously artificial bank reinforcements for the ponds were designed with near-natural reed beds and wet areas. The lawns were laid out and maintained according to ecological criteria, with rigid shapes being converted into natural areas.

The green area impresses with its population of large, sprawling trees with often voluminous tree tops. The park forest in the northeast is rich in species. The park with tree species such as beech and oak is typical of the Bremer Düne location . The vertical structure of the vegetation ( tree layer ) is loose, so that enough light can penetrate the ground. This resulted in a layer of trees, bushes and herbs, which brought about ecological diversity.
