Osmodrama (from the Greek osme (smell) and ancient Greek dráma (action)) denotes, on the one hand, the performance of olfactory art using the olfactory organ Smeller 2.0 , and on the other hand, the Osmodrama - Storytelling with Scents festival , which was launched for the performance and which takes place for the first time in summer Took place in 2016 in Berlin.

history

With Osmodrama , Wolfgang Georgsdorf started an extensive project in 2012 in which smells are implemented as art. The actual beginnings of his olfactory art go back to the creation of the smeller in 1990. Osmodrama is an experimental art form that correlates with the technical possibilities of the smeller .

As a continuing project, Osmodrama is largely financed through donations and is known as Osmodrama e. V. registered in the register of associations.

The festival

The first festival for olfactory art Osmodrama - Storytelling with Scents took place from July 15, 2016 to September 18, 2016 in the St. Johannes Evangelist Church in Berlin-Mitte. Within the festival, visitors were able to experience different staging of olfactory sequences as art. The program included readings, concerts, films, workshops, panel discussions with international artists and cultural workers as well as scientists. The Osmodrama - Storytelling with Scents festival was implemented in cooperation with the international literature festival Berlin , Radialsystem V , through sponsors such as the Schering Foundation and a crowdfunding.

Awards

On May 6, 2017, the US Institute for Art and Olfaction awarded Osmodrama the Sadakichi Award for experimental work with scent .

The jury of the Dresden Center for Science and Art nominated Osmodrama - Smeller - Osmodrom  for the Art and Science Prize 2017 on June 22, 2017.
