Ossip Lerner
Ossip Lerner (actually Ossip Michailowitsch Lerner , English Osip Mikhailovich Lerner , born 1847 ; died 1907 ) was a Yiddish author and theater director.
In 1881 he began to perform Yiddish plays in the Mariinsky Theater in Odessa with his own theater troupe . a. by N. Schaikewitsch and ML Lilienblum . He translated classic European dramas into Yiddish such as Karl Gutzkows Uriel Acosta or Eugène Scribes Die Jüdin .
