The Ostallgäuer paraglider e. V. is a sports club for paragliders from Schwangau . The association has around 180 members (as of 2020).
history
On January 24, 1984, 29 hang-gliders founded the association "Ostallgäuer Drachenflieger Marktoberdorf eV". Later, paragliders also joined the hang-gliders, so that for a few decades it was called "Ostallgäuer Drachen- und Gleitschirmflieger Marktoberdorf eV".
The active members are now almost exclusively paragliders. In spring 2019, the name was therefore changed to "Ostallgäuer Gleitschirmflieger eV" and the headquarters were relocated from Marktoberdorf to Schwangau.
Flight areas
The flying areas at the seat of the association are the Breitenberg in Pfronten , the Tegelberg in Schwangau and the Buchenberg in halch-Buching . Groundkeepers are the municipality of Pfronten on the Breitenberg and the Tegelbergbahn on the Tegelberg and Buchenberg .
Ostallgäu Cup
From the traditional competition of paragliders for the Breitenberg Cup , which took place for decades between the local Stratos association and the members of the hang-glider and paraglider pilots from Marktoberdorf, the Ostallgäu-Cup emerged in 2018 , which is organized by the Ostallgäu paragliders and also other neighboring ones Associations participate.
Sporting successes
In autumn 2018, the club was promoted from the second to the first Bundesliga of the 18 best of 310 clubs in the DHV .
