The Ostefähre Geversdorf was a ferry that connected Geversdorf with Itzwörden and was replaced by a bascule bridge in 1988 .

history

Around 1423 the first ferry to the East was built in Geversdorf by order of the Archbishop of Bremen and given to ferrymen as a fief .

From around 1875 a wooden Geversdorf I ferry was used on the ferry connection. From around 1890 an iron Geversdorf II ferry boat was used, which existed until 1938, but in the last few years as a reserve ferry.

In 1924 the shipbuilding company Unterweser delivered the steel Prahmfähre Geversdorf III , which was delivered to Brobergen in 1973 . In 1945 it was replaced by a pontoon bridge built by British pioneers . The pontoon bridge existed for around six months and during this period there was no shipping traffic on the Oste. Geversdorf III was equipped with a 10 HP engine in 1961 and was delivered to Brobergen in 1973

In 1935 the Geversdorf IV Prahmfähre was taken over by Hechthausen ( Hechthausen III ), which was in operation in Geversdorf until 1973 and was equipped with a basic chain and a motor for pulling the chain.

The motorized cable ferry Geversdorf V was in operation from 1949 to 1988 , Robert Schütt, Hermann Meyer and Karl-Heinz Chlupka were the last three ferrymen. The Geversdorf V was replaced by a new bascule bridge.
