Anger Cell is a Finnish melodic death metal band from Riihimäki that was founded in 2007.

history

The band was formed in autumn 2007. A short time later, the guitarist Vesa "Wesleyer" Säkkinen split from his band Pain Confessor . In addition to the singer DC, the line-up was supplemented by the guitarist Jani Vesanen, the bassist Samppa, with whom DC had already played in other bands, and the drummer Jontte. The group made their first appearance on June 27, 2009 at the after-party of the Tuska Open Air Metal Festival . In August, the demo Once With Hate was recorded at Rockstar Productions Studios in Hyvinkää , before the band went on tour with Grendel , Kiana and Ghoul Patrol in September . Towards the end of the year she wrote on new songs, whereupon in June 2010, again in the Rockstar Productions Studios, the EP Haven for the Forsaken was recorded and released in the same year. In September they went on another tour with Grendel, Ghoul Patrol, Kana and Bill Skins Fifth. From September 2011 to July 2012 the debut album was recorded in the same studios as before and released in October 2012 on Inverse Records under the name A Fear Formidable . In March 2015, Anger Cell separated from her singer DC, whereupon the singer Maija joined in as a replacement in February 2016.

style

Raininterror from schwermetall.ch described the music on A Fear Formidable as shallow Melodic Death Metal, which, however, lacks “enthusiasm for experimentation, variety or even recognition character”. The group sounds like a mixture of Soilwork , In Flames and Dark Tranquility . The musicians have mastered their instruments well, but the electric guitars are tuned too high, which makes the sound more shallow than powerful. In the songs you can do without keyboard sounds. The group also occasionally makes use of two-part singing. Stephan Møller from metal.de wrote in his review of the album that there is Melodic Death Metal on it, which was mainly influenced by the Swedish variety, but was completely without idea, identity or innovation. The songs are played technically clean and the production is clean, but without edges. Also use the group Klargesang, which is reminiscent of Björn Strid 's.
