Ghoul Patrol was a Finnish death 'n' roll band from Helsinki that was formed in 2005 and disbanded in 2015.

history

The band was founded in 2005 by guitarist Jani Rapo and singer Henri Harberg. The band began writing songs and rehearsing in 2006 when drummer Petri Mäkupää joined them. At the beginning of 2008, Jukka Pihlajaniemi joined the group as a singer, who started writing the first lyrics. In the spring, the EP Death Fuckin 'Roll! recorded at Finnvox Studios . At this point the group did not have a bass player, but found him in the form of David Ford. After the recordings, Albert Orma joined the line-up as another guitarist. After the publication, in addition to appearances in various Finnish clubs, concerts in Scotland in the cities of Perth , Elgin and Aberdeen with the Scottish band Bonesaw followed. This was followed by further appearances in Finland. At the end of 2008 a second EP was recorded and released in March 2009 under the name Hellfire Blues . After the release, work began on a third EP, which was released that same year and was titled The 3rd Death Manifest . At the 2010 Finnish Metal Awards , Ghoul Patrol was voted "Best Underground Act of 2009". In the summer of 2010, the group separated from their singer Pihlajaniemi. At first only on a temporary basis, Pekka Okuloff came in as a replacement, before the decision was made to use him permanently as a singer after a few concerts. At the end of 2010 the band took part in the Dimebag Beyond Forever Tour , this was their first opportunity to do a real tour of Finland. Then Spinefarm Records became aware of Ghoul Patrol, whereupon the band signed a record deal with the label in spring 2011. Afterwards the recordings for the debut album began with Matias Kupiainen as producer. The self-titled album was released in October of the same year. Then it went on a tour through Finland. In 2015 the second album The Undying was released. At the same time it was announced that this would be the band's last album. The reason given for the dissolution was lack of time and the desire to pursue other things.

style

Enrico Ahlig from Metal Hammer assigned the band to Death 'n' Roll in his review of the self-titled album. The song Louisiana Pit sounds a lot like Southern Rock . The singing is guttural . He also described the music as a mixture of punk and death metal. In the song Good Rotting Riot meet a banjo on Pantera - riffs , while in Harvest the drums as on the Metallica album St. Anger sword.
