Assisi DOC

Under the name Assisi DOC are Italian white , red and rose wines from the province of Perugia in the region Umbria marketed. They have had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1997 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Assisi DOC is offered in the following types of wine:

  • Assisi Bianco . Must consist of at least 50–70% Trebbiano grapes and at least 10% Grechetto . A maximum of 40% of other white grape varieties approved for cultivation in the Umbria region may be added.
  • Assisi Rosso , Assisi Rosato and Assisi Novello must consist of at least 50–70% Sangiovese grapes and 10–30% Merlot . A maximum of 40% other red grape varieties approved for cultivation in the Umbria region may be added.

Furthermore, almost single-variety wines are offered. The grape variety mentioned in the name must be at least 85%. A maximum of 15% other analogous grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Umbria region may be added. The red wines can also be labeled "Riserva". The wines must have matured for at least 24 months, 12 months of which in wooden barrels and at least three months in the bottle.

Cultivation

The cultivation and vinification of the wines are only in Assisi . Perugia and Spello (Province of Perugia) permitted.

  • Dry extract: at least 20.0 g / l
