location

history

Osterbach was first mentioned in 1313 as a Weinberg fief . In 1382 the Würzburg canon Konrad von Weinsberg ceded the place to his brother Engelhard. Engelhard and Konrad von Weinsberg ceded the tithe in Osterbach in 1410 to Heinz Peter von Eberstadt. The Teutonic Order , the pastor of Kochertürn and the Schöntal monastery owned further rights on the site . There was once a monastery on site, which is said to have been destroyed in the Peasants' War in 1525. The last two heads of the monastery died in quick succession in the same year 1547 and were buried in the church of Kochertürn, where they were given a common tombstone.
