Under East Sweden , Swedish Östra Sverige , refers to the heartland of Sweden . East Sweden is also the name of a Swedish NUTS 1 region .

To the subject

Eastern Sweden is formed from the plains of the peninsula towards Åland and southern Finland . There are the capital Stockholm , Uppsala , Nyköping , Norrköping and Örebro .

The term is not very stuck in Swedish national geography. Eastern Sweden can also more generally be counted as Central Sweden or Southern Sweden in the broader sense (Södra Sverige) .

As the NUTS 1 region SE1 , Östra Sverige comprises two imperial areas ( Riksområde in Swedish ):
