Otello Martelli

Otello Martelli (born May 19, 1902 in Rome , † February 20, 2000 there ) was an Italian cameraman .

Life

Otello Martelli came to film at a very young age and after a short time became head cameraman. Several silent film melodramas were followed by a period of newsreels and documentaries. From 1934 he returned to the entertainment film. After the end of the Mussolini era and the Second World War , Martelli was instrumental in the development of Italian filmmaking. In collaboration with directors Giuseppe De Santis and Federico Fellini , he designed photography to international successes such as Bitterer Reis and La Strada . After leaving behind the camera, Martelli managed a film production company well into old age.
