Othar Chedlivili
Othar Chedlivili (born October 19, 1943 in Montpellier ) is a French organist . He is professor in Montpellier and titular organist at Montpellier Cathedral .
Life
Chedlivili was born in Montpellier in 1943. At the age of twelve he began training as an organist. After studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Montpellier with first prizes in music theory, piano and chamber music, he was appointed titular organist of Ste-Thérèse de Montpellier at the age of 18 in 1966 . He also studied with Joseph Roucairol and worked as the cotitular organist of the cathedral in Montpellier. After Roucairol's death in 1992, he was finally appointed titular organist at the cathedral. He teaches at the University of Montpellier and gives numerous concerts all over Europe. He recorded the organ works of his teacher Roucairol and Gabriel Piernés on CD .
