Othello ( Japaneseオ セ ロ) is a manga by Satomi Ikezawa . It belongs to the Shōjo genre and is aimed at young people.

The manga first appeared in 2001 in the Japanese manga magazine Bessatsu Friend , which is published monthly by Kodansha- Verlag. At the conclusion of the series in 2004, the story comprised seven paperback books.

In Germany, Othello was first published in Manga Power magazine, but Egmont Manga and Anime also translated it into anthologies.

16-year-old Yaya feels rejected at school, is always teased and does not have enough self-confidence to defend herself. At home she has to obey her strict father, who only allows her the bare essentials. And when her favorite rock band Juliet breaks up, a world collapses for her.

But if the shy girl looks in a mirror, her real self , the strong and self-confident Nana , wakes up . Nana is the opposite of Yaya, at school and against Seri and Moe she no longer plays the introverted girl. She also meets people she only knows by first name and who share her greatest passion, the band Juliet . Nana feels comfortable in this anonymity among like-minded people, because only then can she escape her boring and painful everyday life.

Meanwhile, her affection for her classmate Moriyama, the singer of the band Black Dog, grows . He knows about Yaya's second personality.
