Ottappalam ( Malayalam ഒറ്റപ്പാലം ; also Ottapalam ) is a city ( municipality ) in the state of Kerala in India .
The city is located in the Palakkad district on the right bank of the Bharathapuzha river . Ottappalam is located 30 km west of the district capital Palakkad and 50 km from the sea at an altitude of 29 m . Ottappalam is on the Kozhikode – Palakkad railway line . At the 2011 census, the city had 53,792 inhabitants.
