The Otto Hahn Gymnasium ( OHG ) is the only general high school in Springe . It is named after the German chemist and Nobel Prize winner Otto Hahn (1879–1968).

history

On October 2, 1967, construction work began on the south school center, where the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Schule and the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium were later located today. The following year the Otto Hahn Gymnasium was opened and its name was given.

Since 1991 there is also a cafeteria for the pupils, which is mainly managed by two teachers. Around 150 parents and two one-euro workers are also employed as assistants.

With the abolition of the orientation level in 2004, pupils of the 5th and 6th year started school again. So a total of three years were accepted (5th, 6th and 7th grade). Because of the high number of students, the high school was expanded to include the OHG North branch . The buildings of the former north orientation level were used for the branch. In the summer of 2014, the long-planned move of the 5th to 7th grade into the main building of the Otto Hahn Gymnasium was implemented, so that all grades of the Gymnasium are now housed in one building. The Gerhart Hauptmann School moved into the former "OHG Nord".

On June 14, 2008 the Otto Hahn Gymnasium celebrated its 40th anniversary. Among the guests at the school anniversary celebration was Otto Hahn's only grandson, Dietrich Hahn .

Years 5 and 6 have been housed in the building area of the former secondary school since the 2014/2015 school year.
