Otto Brandt (painter)
Otto Brandt (born March 5, 1828 in Berlin , † September 10, 1892 in Olevano Romano ) was a German portrait , genre and history painter .
Life
While still studying at the Royal Prussian Academy of the Arts in Berlin, which lasted from 1843 to 1851, Brandt took part in his first exhibitions in Berlin and Königsberg in 1850. This was probably preceded by a trip to Switzerland. From 1850 to 1852 he worked as an illustrator in Berlin. From 1850 to 1856 he took part in the Berlin Academy exhibitions, around 1853 he was in Paris, where he studied in Léon Cogniet's studio . Resident in Rome from 1854, Brandt worked primarily as a genre and landscape painter.
