Otto Ducháček
Otto Ducháček (born November 7, 1910 in Ústí nad Orlicí , † 1993 ) was a Czech Romance studies and linguist.
life and work
Ducháček graduated from high school in Jilemnice and studied from 1929 to 1934 with Max Křepinský and Josef Dvořák at the Charles University in Prague . From 1934 to 1950 he was a high school teacher. In 1948 he completed his habilitation with a text on the interaction of form and meaning of words and was senior assistant at the University of Prague from 1950 to 1955. From 1955 he taught at the Masaryk University in Brno , from 1966 as a full professor of Romance linguistics. With Otakar Novák he edited the Etudes romanes de Brno . He belonged to the Comité de patronage of the magazine Le Français Moderne .
Otto Ducháček was the father of Vratislav Ducháček (* 1941).
