On October 20, 1701, Count Ferdinand Bonaventura von Harrach acquired the town and the manorial estate of Starkenbach for 240,000 florins. His brother's daughter, confidante of Emperor Ferdinand II , was married to Field Marshal Wallenstein in his second marriage . The last owner of Starkenbach was Ferdinand Bonaventura Count von Harrach in 1945. He and the local German-speaking families were expropriated in favor of Czechoslovakia.

Starkenbach was expanded and expanded around 1716. The baroque church building, completed in 1729, is attributed to the master builder Johann Georg Achbauer the Younger , around 1800 the castle received its own chapel . From the beginning of the 19th century, with the beginning of industrialization in Starkenbach, textile and glass industries were established. Until 1868, Starkenbach was the seat of the court district of the same name and then the newly created district of Starkenbach . In 1899 the station was opened on the Starkenbach – Rochlitz local line. After the end of the First World War in 1918, Starkenbach joined the newly founded Czechoslovakia and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1992 .
