Otto Kranzbühler (Captain)

Otto Kranzbühler (born January 17, 1871 in Neustadt, Bavarian Palatinate, today Neustadt an der Weinstrasse , † 1946 in Tutzing ) was a German naval officer.

Live and act

Kranzbühler joined the Navy in 1888 and was promoted to sea captain on November 11, 1911 . When war broke out, he commanded the outdated ship of the line SMS Kaiser Wilhelm II. From July 1915 to March 1917, he served in the Aviation Department in the Reichsmarineamt and was also a liaison officer at the main headquarters.

From March to July 1917 he was in command of the Naval Aviation Department. In March 1917 he was appointed naval flight chief and kept this command until his departure on March 4, 1920. In November 1919 he was given the character of rear admiral.

In 1938 he received the rank of rear admiral .
