William P. "Bill" Fralic, Jr. (born October 31, 1962 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , † December 13, 2018 in Atlanta ) was an American American football player in the position of offensive guard . He played a total of nine years in the National Football League (NFL).

Early years

Fralic went to high school in his native Pittsburgh. He later went to the University of Pittsburgh , where he played the offensive tackle position on the college football team and received two All-American awards (1983 and 1984).

NFL

Fralic was selected second in the first round by the Atlanta Falcons in the 1985 NFL Draft . In his first season he was a regular player in the position of offensive guard . Between 1986 and 1989 he was elected to the Pro Bowl four times . He played a total of 116 games from 1985 to 1992 for the Falcons. For the 1993 season he moved to the Detroit Lions , where he ended his active career after a season in which he played all 16 season games.

During his playing career, Fralic campaigned against the abuse of steroids in the NFL.

After the NFL career

Fralic co-commented on games of the Atlanta Falcons from 1995 to 1997, and from 2004 to 2010 on the college football games of the University of Pittsburgh. He also ran an Atlanta insurance company , Bill Fralic Insurance Services Inc.
