Andre Bernard Tippett (born December 27, 1959 in Birmingham , Alabama ) is a retired American football player . He played from 1982 to 1993 on the position of linebacker with the New England Patriots within the National Football League (NFL). He still works for the Patriots today. In 2008 he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame .

Career

Tippett attended the University of Iowa where he was very successful in college football as a linebacker. In the 1982 NFL Draft , he was selected in the second round in 41st place overall by the New England Patriots. There he continued to play very successfully, he was elected to a total of five Pro Bowls (1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988) and was named All-Pro five times (1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988), was elected to the NFL in 1980s Elected All-Decade Team and named one time player of the year. Andre Tippett is currently in three halls of fame , the Patriot's own, which he was inducted into in 1999, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and his university's hall of fame, which he inducted in 2007.
