Otto Libal

Otto Libal (born January 1, 1917 in Korneuburg ; † April 2, 2015 in Linz ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). Libal was a member of the Austrian National Council from 1962 to 1978 .

Libal attended elementary and secondary school and entered the service of the First Danube Steamship Society (DDSG) in Linz. He attended an advanced training school and the civil service college and passed the civil service high school diploma . He worked as a machine fitter for the DDSG and did his military service between 1938 and 1945. In 1945 he became a member of the central works council of the Donaudampfschiffahrtsgesellschaft in Vienna and chairman of the employee works council in Linz. He was also a member of the district executive committee of the SPÖ Linz-Stadt and a member of the SPÖ state party executive committee of Upper Austria. In addition, he was active as vice-president of the central organization of the war victims associations in Austria and was chairman of the war victims association of Upper Austria. He was also active as a board member of the Black Cross . Libal represented the SPÖ between December 14, 1962 and October 16, 1978 in the National Council, where he campaigned in particular for war victims and their families.
