Otto Pötter (born May 22, 1948 in Rheine ) is a Low German poet , radio play author and writer of contemporary Döönkes ( Low German short stories).

Life

Otto Pötter was born in Rheine as the oldest of three children. The former municipal official and today's life coach for meaning-centered personality development (after Viktor E. Frankl ) took a leave of absence from the city of Rheine in 1971 and, after training in Cologne and Madrid , worked from 1972 to 1975 in a social center with the Otomí in the highlands of Mexico . The extinction of the ancient Indian languages encouraged him to devote himself to cultivating his native Low German language after his return to the Münsterland . For this he received the City of Rheine Culture Prize in 2012. Otto Pötter is one of the best-known Low German authors in the Münster and Emsland .
