Otto Reetz

Otto Reetz (born April 28, 1876 in Neufriedland ; † August 19, 1956 ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ).

After elementary school, Reetz did an apprenticeship as a shoemaker and then worked in this profession. In 1902 he joined the SPD and was a member of the city council of Wermelskirchen from 1905 . In addition, he was an active member of the free trade union leather workers' association and before 1933 temporarily also union secretary .

During the time of the National Socialist rule he was released, his house was searched by the Gestapo and Reetz was arrested.

After 1945 Reetz was again a member of the city council and the representative assembly of the Wermelskirchen office. In Wermelskirchen he was the deputy mayor. In 1946 and 1947 he was a member of the appointed Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia .
