Otto Richter (born February 28, 1875 in Vienna ; † August 26, 1919 there ) was an Austrian architect .

Life

Otto Richter is the son of the architect Gustav Adolf Richter . After the state trade school , which he graduated with the Matura in 1893, he studied from 1894 to 1896 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Victor Luntz . From 1904 Richter worked with his former school colleague Leopold Ramsauer in an office community, mainly for the first non-profit building company for small housing construction in Vienna, for which Leopold Simony also worked. They specialized in social housing.

All of Richter's buildings were planned and executed together with Leopold Ramsauer. Particularly noteworthy are the residential complex in Buchengasse 7-9, which is considered to be the forerunner of public housing, and Wiedenhof, which is considered to be the forerunner of later communal buildings from the interwar period. The two architects also built the first men's dormitory in Austria as well as an interesting building complex that combines living and workshops in Mariahilf.
