Leopold Ramsauer (born December 18, 1874 in Malatzka near Pressburg , † July 14, 1916 in Vienna ) was an Austrian architect .

Life

Leopold Ramsauer came to Vienna in 1889, where he attended the state trade school together with Otto Richter . Then he was a technical officer in the Ministry of Interior . Together with Otto Richter, Ramsauer formed a community of architects from 1904 and worked primarily for the first non-profit building company for small apartment construction in Vienna, for which Leopold Simony also worked. Ramsauer died at an early age of spinal cord consumption.

All of Ramsauer's buildings were planned and executed together with Otto Richter. Particularly noteworthy are the residential complex at Buchengasse 7–9, which is considered to be the forerunner of public housing, and Wiedenhof, which is considered to be the forerunner of later community buildings from the interwar period. The two architects also built the first men's dormitory in Austria as well as an interesting building complex that combines living and workshops in Mariahilf.
