Athletic career

In the 1950s, Rosenheinrich participated in the eventful history of football in Weißenfels . From 1950 the 30-year-old was the goalkeeper of the company sports association (BSG) Schuhmetro, with whom he played in the second-class state class Saxony-Anhalt . On April 1, 1951, the BSG called itself in progress and played in the newly established second-rate GDR league that season . At that time, Rosenheinrich was part of the squad of the Saxony-Anhalt state selection, with which he was in the 1951 final of the GDR state cup. Saxony-Anhalt was defeated by the Saxony selection with 1: 2. On December 21, 1954, the company sports community was upgraded to the progress sports club. The Weißenfelser, until then always represented in the top field of the GDR league, achieved promotion to the GDR upper league in the 1954/55 season. Rosenheinrich, now 34 years old, was the team's regular goalkeeper. After this season the game operations in GDR football were switched to the calendar year rhythm, in addition there was a simple transition round in autumn 1955. In this unofficial season, the SC progress already appeared in the league and reached a respectable seventh place among 14 teams as a newcomer. Rosenheinrich played 12 of the 13 transition round matches. When Weißenfels got off to a sharp start in the league in 1956, Rosenheinrich was already 35 years old. Nevertheless, he played the first 14 point games in the goal of SC progress before he was replaced by the younger goalkeeper Herbert Jacob. Rosenheinrich then ended his career as a competitive athlete.
