Otto Schirmer (master builder)
Otto Schirmer (born June 17, 1828 in Cologne ; † December 13, 1904 in Hinterbrühl ) was a German- Austrian architect and master builder.
Live and act
From 1855 Schirmer worked for Vinzenz Statz in Cologne and directed the construction of the Mauritius Church. In 1862 he moved to Linz , where he worked out the plans for the Mariendom. After Statz's death in 1898, he became a master builder in Linz Cathedral.
Schirmer is considered to be the actual founder of historicist sacred architecture in Upper Austria .
