Otto Stefferl

Otto Stefferl (born March 10, 1931 in Vienna , died January 1, 2018 ) was an Austrian graphic and postage stamp artist .

Life

Stefferl was the son of a musician and a painter. From 1947 to 1951 he attended the Höhere Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt in Vienna , then worked in the Koszler studio until 1954. He has created many posters and postage stamps for the Austrian and Liechtenstein Post. According to his own statements, he designed a total of 171 postage stamps.

In addition, he designed the popular “Postfuchs”, an advertising figure, for Austria, and also the Stoppl - the figure that was used in Austria for 25 years in traffic education for children and later also in Switzerland.

From 1984 to 2003 Otto Stefferl was Vice President of the Provincial Association of Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland of the professional association of Austrian visual artists and from 1984 to 2007 section head of the graphics section.
